"Es un sueño pasar un día en este hotel, te evoca a épocas pasadas. Las habitaciones son muy autenticas y el desayuno en el roof top es maravilloso. El personal es muy servicial, después del late check-out estuvimos por Stone Town y a las 4.00pm volvimos al hotel a estar en recepción un par de horas y muy gentilmente (un gentleman!) nos ofrecieron una habitación para ducharnos y relajarnos un momento antes de coger el vuelo a casa. Esto solo lo hacen los hoteles con alma de 5 estrellas"

"The architecture and heritage of the hotel is just outstanding. Amongst the best in Stone Town. Every room is remarkable and an experience. Both restaurants are very nice also, amazing vibes, the food I thought was just ok. I was very happy here."

"There was construction around the hotel and also inside the hotel which was very annoying. Also, the sheets had a smell, they did not feel clean. The bedspreads should be discarded, as they are really worn out. Overall the hotel feels like it needs a sprucing up, the curtains, upholstry and bedding feel dated and should be refreshed. The original woodwork, furniture and bones of the hotel are excellent - no change needed. The bathroom needs a good cleaning. The wood where the glasses were kept felt mouldy and unclean."

"The building is beautiful. Our room was very large and has lots of light. The hotel refunded us a night at the end of our stay when our plans changed. We truly appreciated that."

"The chairs in our room, while historic, were not comfortable. The back porch and outdoor shower were nice but not a place to sit. On our last night the AC malfunctioned and water leaked into our bags. Staff was helpful as best they could but it impacted our night and following morning. Another thing to note is that vehicles cannot reach the hotel. It is a 5-10 minute walk from the nearest parking lot. Only some Tuk tuks are authorized to come into the old city. The hotel could call one when we left but it was not easy to get one when we wanted to come back late at night."
