"The character of the property both inside (with the furnishings) and outside was really quite cute. The property was well equipped and properly had the best shower we have experienced in New Zealand. We loved the quiet location and found it a bonus having a grocery store in easy walking distance."

"There’s nothing not to like about Ferntree Cottage. It’s such a cute cottage and the interior doesn’t disappoint. All the furniture & furnishings are in keeping with the age of the cottage. The home is meticulously maintained & very well equipped. One thing that impressed us, was that it was only a 5 minute walk down to the Mapua wharf for a meal, coffee, fish n chips or a beer or wine. Deb is a great host & most friendly. Thank you."

"The cottage is beautifully set up, with everything you need for a short or extended stay. The host Debbie came to say hi and introduced herself and we had quite a chat. I loved being welcomed into the cottage, loved the radio being on (classical music) to softly add to the ambience. There were plenty of throws/blankets to provide extra warmth if needed (we didn't). Loved Mapua, it was very central for our walks and this cottage is very close to local supermarket, pharmacy, pub, excellent bakery and library. I can't recommend this cottage highly enough."

"If you are looking for an exceptional place to stay on the Coromandel peninsula, this is it. The Lodge is quite large with everything you could need: kitchenette, couch and TV, comfy bed, large bathroom (tub + huge shower), terrace and the a spectacular view of Whitianga! As you would expect, it was very quiet, and the layout is such that, that you can enjoy total privacy. Carol and Warren were very welcoming and we had a nice chat every morning with Warren as he brought us a lovely breakfast. The road up the lodge is fairly steep but it wasn't an issue at all, so if you have a decent car I wouldn't worry about it. While in our particular case, we didn't have the best weather throughout the stay, we appreciated that the lodge is furnished so as to feel like home, which made for a cozy day in. I could tell that there was a lot of thought put into the furnishing and decorating of the lodge!"
